J September 7, 2007 Ason Just checking back in. After reading the article, you solved the problem. You should see your external drive listed in the Disk Management window. I had the same issue and could not fix it for anything.

Actually, I meant you just needed to (for each window) => Click the Copy button at the bottom of the Window => Then you can simply Paste the text into a I still can see the hard drive in Disk Management but not in explorer. This was precisely what the problem was in may case. I have a lot of important files on that drive.
And this is the only way I have been able to solve this problem. I was worried about the USB icon. I have the exact same problem with my seagate expansion (2TB). Many, many, many thanks!!!!!
Now I've tried plugging it into the USB port in the rear of the machine BELOW where the external hard drive is plugged in. For me it didn't matter because the drive was new and blank anyway. Thanks!
