if you know which Nics are installed in your Host that’s great otherwise check using this command via SSH and see if your host is using them ~# esxcli network nic Like Show 0 Likes (0) Actions 3. Unfortunately I didn't have the error which is mentioned in the KB article on my systen: "OSError: [Errno 39] Directory not empty: /bootbank/state.XXXXXXX (where XXXXXXX is a number)". I ran into this VMware KB article which is about quite the same issue, although the article is talking about an upgrade from 4.1 to 5.0.

I had to ctrl-c to get back to the prompt (after waiting 15 minutes) and when I ran the last line again it ran almost instantly.
I found the following message in the /var/log/vua.log: 2015-08-17T12:29:16.999Z error vua[FFF940D0] [[email protected] sub=Default] Alert:WARNING: This application is not using QuickExit().
