How can I claim compensation? I had to change the resolution to something other than 640×480 to get this to work with my Dell P2210 monitor. 1024×768 worked for me. After you edit /etc/default/grub you have to run update-grub and you can't do that from a live CD without chrooting first, and if you don't run update-grub the changes you make
I'd give some thought to maybe picking up a bit newer video card if that's an option.

I ran "sudo nano /etc/default/grub" and edited the following lines: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="nomodeset vga=normal" GRUB_GFXMODE=1024×768 I then uncommented this line: GRUB_TERMINAL=console Saved the file and then ran: sudo update-grub Followed by: sudo reboot The time now is 01:02 AM.
I can confirm that the nomodeset boot option fixes the problem.
