It sounds like it would be a great idea, but the Maxtor Shared Storage drive does not have an option for attaching it as a USB drive. You need to have at least fifteen percent free space on your hard drive for Defrag to run properly, otherwise it will only partially defragment your hard drive. All Rights Reserved.

Defragging the files you can defrag easily, and doing so regularly, gets you 99% of the performance gain you're looking for anyway. You should avoid 3rd party software where you can. Several functions may not work.
I finally ran bats xp cd, and there is an option on it for a dos utility that seemes to have done most of the files. If there's not enough room for a second, temporary, copy of a file that needs to be defragmented, then that file cannot be processed.
